GRUPO INDIO ANALYZES A USD 100 MILLION INVESTMENT IN LA RIOJA

On Monday, Governor Ricardo Quintela met with investors from the Indian company SRAM & MRAM to discuss a potential USD 100 million investment aimed at expanding the poultry fattening industry in the province of La Rioja and boosting the export market. This ambitious project promises regional growth and the creation of hundreds of direct and indirect jobs.
Federico Bazán, the Minister of Labor, Employment, and Industry of La Rioja, highlighted the significant expansion anticipated for 2025, noting that the project could increase chicken production by more than seven times compared to the current output of Granjas Riojanas, a company once owned by the state and now privately held. This expansion would result in the creation of over 350 new direct jobs, along with many more indirect positions. Bazán emphasized that various provincial sectors have worked together to ensure the success of this investment, which could also open up the potential to trade via the Pacific route to Chile.
Ángel Maza, a collaborator, added that La Rioja is already supplying chicken to ten Argentine provinces and is now seeking to attract the USD 100 million investment to export food. He pointed out that the province's location in the west offers excellent sanitary conditions, making it ideal for such investments. Furthermore, the project could help fulfill La Rioja's long-held dream of accessing Pacific trade routes, which would bring significant economic benefits to the region.
